"I Went to the Doctor"
My favorite poem by Kenn Nesbitt was "I Went to the Doctor." I liked this poem because it made me laugh. It made me laugh because the doctor gave him a shot in his rump. Also, I am thankful that I have not had all of these problems at the same time. I would be complaining all day long. I am surprised that one shot would cure all of those aches and pains away. The patient is lucky that all that still hurts is his rump.

Wednesday's Homework: (Please DO NOT do this ahead of time because you will need some instruction in class before completing this.)
Go to the following website to read the poem. Look up in a dictionary any words you do not know. Type a paragraph explaining what you think the author is trying to say in his poem. Then on plain paper, draw and color an illustration that would go with the poem. Turn it in when you get to school. http://www.storyit.com/Classics/JustPoems/shadow.htm

"My Shadow"
"My Shadow" is about how a shadow follows me wherever I go. A shadow changes shapes because of the location of the sun in the sky For example, it can be tall like the India Rubber ball or very little. A shadow is not there when it is dark. It can be asleep. A shadow is with you at all times even if you can't see it.
